Introduction

magicApp Calling & Messaging by magicJack allows you to make free calls to U.S. and Canada.

Not only can you call U.S. and Canadian phone numbers but you can also call anywhere in the world as long as it's a magicJack number. You don't need to have a voice plan to use the app, but it is highly recommended you have 4G or WiFi to use it. Not to worry, your mobile minutes are never used during phone calls.

To place calls you can use your stored contacts.

For those who don't have a magicJack account, in order to use the app you'll have to do one of two things: first off, you can acquire a magicNumber phone number, which is free, and that will allow you to receive and make calls. You'll also get free voicemail with it.

Your other option is to just try it out, without any account needed. You can call U.S. and Canadian cell and landline numbers, as well as magicJack numbers.

Spread the word to your friends so they can also get a magicJack number and call each other for free. All magicNumbers end and start with an asterisk. This needs to be keyed in when you dial.

magicApp Calling & Messaging was updated on Dec. 4, 2011 and currently has 2,364 customer ratings with an average rating of three and a half out of five stars.

The concept of this app is great and while many people have success with magicJack on their home phones there seems to still be some issues/bugs using it on a mobile device, making it not one of the best free phone call apps.
