Bloons TD 5 by Ninja Kiwi is a fun and interesting tower defense strategy game for your iOS device.

If you’re a fan of this game genre, you’re probably used to defending against the typical enemy: dragons, goblins, opposing soldiers, and orcs. In this game, you’re playing against balloons. You’ll have to plan your strategy around popping them with things like darts, tacks, and glue. The character you play, also unlike most tower defense games, is not a soldier, mage, or archer, is a monkey.

Your character doesn’t have any special or magical powers, but throws darts like a champ. You’ll have to earn experience points and gold. This will earn you more monkeys, like the sniper monkey who operates a glue gun, a freezing monkey who slows down chilled balloons, and more. You’ll also be able to buy extras like a tack factory, a Gatling gun, and other fun stuff to battle the balloons.

The game starts off fairly easy but gets more difficult as you go.

Features of the game include iCloud support, Game Center integration with more than 50 challenges and achievements, more than 250 random missions, and 22 tracks.

Developers have tons of planned updates to keep the game fresh.

Bloons TD 5 was updated to Version 1.2 on February 6, 2013. The update made some bug fixes, added a reset button, added the ability to unlock Sandbox Mode, and added a new beginner track called Brick 

Wall. The current version has 2962 customer ratings with an average of five out of five stars. Its stellar ratings show how great this app really is.

I’m not a fan of most tower defense games but this one is so different, so off-the-wall, that you can’t help but enjoy yourself. It was really challenging and I quickly found myself addicted. Give it a try and see for yourself how much fun it can be to battle balloons!
