Numbers by Apple is the spreadsheet app for your iPad, designed by the company that made the iPad.

When you use Numbers app for iPhone, part of Apple’s office suite, you’ll know you’re getting a great app that will have you creating simple or complex spreadsheets in just minutes.

More Details

You can choose from among more than 250 functions. This app works with iCloud, so your spreadsheets are accurate across all of your devices.

You can select from the 16 templates including Running Log, Travel Planner, and Budget. You can view from Microsoft Excel, CSV files, imported files from Mail or the web, and Numbers ’09.

It’s easy to import files: just drag them to icloud.com on your computer and they’ll automatically appear on all the devices you own with Numbers installed.

It’s easy to edit and format the data in your spreadsheets. Use pop-ups, steppers, and sliders to easily enter your data and see the results. You can use the intelligent keyboard to enter durations, dates, numbers, formulas, or text. Add photos or even videos using the Media Browser, pulled in from your Photos.

The app automatically saves your spreadsheets as you go.

You can share your finished or in-process work via Mail, or copy to Dropbox and share that way. You can print using AirPrint, too.

I like the simplicity of this app, but then again, I’m a basic spreadsheet user. I can see how more advanced users may not like this app due to its lack of advanced functions compared to Excel.

If you need a good, basic spreadsheet app that is available across platforms, then definitely check out Numbers.
