Pou

Price: $1.99

Pou by Paul Salameh is a fun game for your iOS device where you get the chance to raise an alien creature.

Once you adopt your Pou, you will have to raise it and customize it. You’ll have to take care of it, bathe it, feed it, play with it, and watch it as it grows.

As you go along and keep your Pou alive, you’ll level up and unlock different outfits and wallpapers.

You’ll start off with 5000 coins that you can use to customize your pet. You can buy eyeglasses, hair, hats, and outfits. Choose different styles to totally suit your tastes. Show off your Pou to friends and have your Pou visit theirs!

There are a few mini-games where you can play to earn more coins. There are also achievements that have been added in the most recent update.

You can also talk to your Pou and listen to what it has to say.

Pou was updated to Version 1.2.14 on March 9, 2013. The update added breakfast foods, added the Match Tap and Color Tap games, and added achievements. It also added other foods, more accessories, and added the ability for Pou to talk. The current version has 62 customer ratings with an average of 4.5 out of five stars. Feedback comments are positive.

I think this is a fun game for kids and young teens to play. Some adults may enjoy it, too, but it was a bit too simplistic for me. You really have to play a lot to earn more coins if you want to accessorize your Pou, but you can buy coins for $0.99. There are other in-app purchases you can make, too.

For: iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad with iOS 5.0 or later. Pou is optimized for iPhone 5.
