DC Metro and Bus by Ian Dixon helps those living in the DC-area who rely on public transportation.

Use your iPad as your own personal public transportation assistant with this app. You'll have access to real-time DC Metro bus and rail information that automatically refreshes with information direct from WMATA. You'll get DC Metro Rail predictions of the next train for each and every station in Washington DC, as well as the same information for the DC Metro Bus system.

The app features a location based bus stop and metro station finder so you'll always be able to locate one near you. It even provides navigation through mapping. You can access the WMATA DC Metro rail map straight form the app and view any rail alerts that could possible impact your commute.

If you find yourself using certain stations/stops on a regular basis you mark them as Favorites so you can quickly and easily view them. There is even a live Twitter feed for dcmetro.

It should be noted that although this app is free it does contain ads. In order to get the ad-free version you'll need to purchase the upgrade. You will need network access to use the features of the app.

If you're a regular commuter in the Washington DC area this app seemed like a great tool to have. I really appreciated that the information was direct from the WMATA so you knew you could rely and trust in it.
