iKnowBirdSongs app review: learn to recognize birds by their songs

Reviews

iKnowBirdSongs

Price: $9.99

iKnowBirdSongs by FlipCardApps is an electronic flip card game that teaches you actual birdsong of 371 North American bird species.

You’ll hear an actual birdsong and then you choose from a short list of birds. Pick the right one and you’ll learn to recognize what a bird sounds like without even seeing it. This lets you identify birds in the wild even when they’re hidden in trees.

You get bird songs from 371 species, each recorded by the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology. You’ll hear multiple songs for many of the bird species listed.

Features include the ability to select the region of the country, season, and group of birds to study; listening tips from professional birders to help you tell the difference between birds with similar songs; and the capability to move between different lists of songs.

Each species has its own information page with supplementary photos, essential information, and range maps.

A portion of the sales of this app go to support the work of the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology..

iKnowBirdSongs was released at the beginning of May, 2013. The app has a total of five customer ratings with an average of five out of five stars. Feedback comments are positive.

I just downloaded this app and already I can identify several different bird species outside my door. This is an amazing app for bird watchers, teachers, and students.

For:  iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad with iOS 5.0 or later. iKnowBirdSongs is optimized for iPhone 5.
