Alice of Hearts

Price: Free

Alice of Hearts by Aurum Apps tells the tale of Alice as she finds her way through Wonderland once more. It was released in early April of 2013. Gameplay is essentially a turn-based and card-based battle system which you can play online or through the single player mode.

User Experience
This game has a nice back story which makes it a little more engaging. We follow Alice as she is walking home. She goes to investigate a strange noise and suddenly finds herself in Wonderland facing friends and enemies, old and new. Alice has a few tricks up her sleeve, and with a little help from her Ego warriors, sets out to find her way home.

Gameplay is pretty interesting, following a fairly original concept. The battles are turn-based, meaning you can start a game with someone online and then check several hours later to make your next move. Alternatively, playing single player helps to make things a little more fast-paced.

Features
Based on the classic Lewis Carroll books, Alice of Hearts is an interesting blend of poker and battle-type card games, with better hands and rarer cards having a more potent effect in game. This game also features a nice element of progression with the variety of cards to be collected.

Alice of Hearts enables you to create what are known as Egos, the warriors of Wonderland. Egos will assist you in battle, and you can create your own personalized Ego with various customization options a selection of skills and abilities to help you dominate the battlefield.

Where this game really shines is in the multiplayer mode, which enables you to take everything you’ve learned, and all the strength you’ve developed, and fight other players from across the globe. Alice of Hearts features Facebook integration which allows you to start playing within seconds: just pick a player ID and you’re good to go.

Customer Ratings and Feedback Comments

Personal Comments by Reviewer
I actually downloaded this game expecting not to like it but I was pleasantly surprised. I’ve always enjoyed the Wonderland books and spin-off media so the title immediately caught my eye, but the style of game play was what really surprised me.

The battles flow quite nicely when you play the single player mode, and multi player mode gives you the chance to have several games going on at once. Graphically, everything looks great and I really think the interface has a nice polished look to it.

Pros

  • Unique game play style
  • Online multi player mode
  • Facebook integration

Cons

  • Minimal tutorial
  • Not necessarily a negative point, but it would be nice to see additional content and further expansion of the concept in future updates

For: iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad with iOS 4.3 or later. Alice of Hearts is optimized for iPhone 5.
