Coupon-clipping, grocery shopping enthusiasts rejoice—there is an app for you! Recipe and store discount database, Recipe.com, has unveiled Shopping List, it’s all-new app for creating, maintaining, and storing shopping lists. Gone are the days of chicken scratch shopping lists scribbled on the back of last month’s TV Guide. Shopping list allows users to create detailed shopping based on favorite stores and local specials.
Creating your weekly shopping list is as easy as sending a text message. You can either manually type in what you need (eggs, bacon, tomato soup, candy corn), or search using Shopping List’s fairly extensive grocery inventory database. You can find items as general as “bananas” to brand-specific goods like “Kellog’s Corn Flakes.”
If you’re the type of shopper who scrupulously seeks out weekly deals and discounts before you hit the grocery store, fret not, Shopping List allows you to search local specials based on your location and preferences. You can add favorite shops to the “My Stores” section to get updates on deals in your area, or search specials based on your location or compiled list(s). Shopping List also comes with a barcode scanning feature. This comes in handy if you want to remember a specific brand or item once you get to the store. Simply scan it in, and save it to your list.
Although practical, Shopping List is lacking in design and ease of use. The search database feature is rich with typos and duplicate items, and the homepage dashboard is a bit limited. If you don’t mind hauling around that stone age handwritten shopping list a bit longer, it might be worth it to wait for a feature update before you download this app, so that the developers can work out these kinks in the UI.
