Socialize While Listening to Music With The Nifty 'Turntable.fm' for iPhone

Turntable.fm turned the tables, so to speak.

To access the full functionality of Turntable you need to have and log into a Facebook account. After you log in you can then select to enter a room from a very long list of available options, or choose to create your own room. Once inside this virtual room you can vote for or against a song selected by a DJ or DJ panel, with a meter showing a needle swinging between "Lame" on one end and "Awesome" on the other. If the song is lame enough, it gets skipped and another selection is then played.  At the top of the screen you can announce to the rest of the world, via your Facebook or Twitter accounts, what it is you are listening to, and in case you have forgotten what it is, the name of the track, its duration and the name of the artist is emblazoned across the bottom of the DJ table while the song is playing. The social networking element of the program lets you, in addition to instant messaging anyone in the room with you, select a member from the crowd to view their profile or to follow them as they venture from one room to another, but this can be tricky if the room is crowded with avatars.

Overall, this app is for anyone who loves a bit of socialising mixed in with their love of music. Just like YouTube revolutionised broadcasting, so too will Turntable.fm revolutionise the ways we listen to the "radio."
