Introduction

How to Cook Everything by Culinate, Inc. is a great Food & Drink app that will teach you how to – well, cook everything. It was updated July 2, 2013, and requires 50MB of storage space on your device. It’s normally $9.99 but on sale right now. It’s currently the #1 iPhone app in the iTunes App Store!

User Experience

This app is absolutely full of features that you’re going to love and use all the time.

When you launch the app for the first time, it takes a few seconds to index the recipes. This only happens the first time, so don’t worry.

The home screen offers five buttons along the bottom: Home, Search, Favorites, Shop, and More. In addition to that, in the middle of the screen you will see your main choices for the home page: Browse Recipes, Kitchen Basics, Bittman’s Picks, Most Popular, Featured Recipes, and Summer Grilling.

The user interface is intuitive and easy to navigate. The recipes are well laid-out and offer three different screens that you use tabs to navigate: Overview, Ingredients, and Steps. Some recipes feature a fourth tab, with Variations.

As mentioned, this app is full of features. There are more than 2,000 recipes, 400 how-to illustrations, and more. You get everything you get in the book by Mark Bittman, plus more.  You can bookmark certain steps, convert quantities and temperatures, use the built-in timers, and add your own notes to recipes.

You can print off recipes, and email friends up to 10 recipes a month.

There are so many more features it’s impossible to list them all here.
