Seasons and Weather ! app review: fun science games for kids three to six years old
Introduction
Seasons and Weather ! by Tribal Nova is a fun educational app for preschool and Kindergarten kids. They’ll learn about different weather conditions and the different seasons through fun gameplay. This app will also help them learn about the proper clothes to wear for different weather situations.
What It's All About
This app was created by the same people who developed the PBS Kids Play! app and you can tell they have a way with kids. Seasons and Weather ! was designed to help teach young kids about the seasons, different weather conditions, and the clothing that is suitable for different activities outside. It offers minimal frustration to young players, and is calm and encouraging.
What I like best about the app is that it doesn’t penalize for wrong answers; even if a young child might choose a level that is too difficult, there still isn’t any frustration to deal with. There are three levels of difficulty, and requires no reading.
There’s a Parents’ Center where you can track your child’s progress and manage the account, which is nice.
When you download the app for free you’ll only get access to the What to Wear game; the others are locked. To access these you have to make an in-app purchase of $2.99 to unlock the full game.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
Kid-friendly
-
No reading required so it’s suitable for young kids
-
Gets kids ready for school
Cons
-
You don’t get all the games with the free version and $3 seems pretty pricey
-
Sound effects are kind of annoying
Final Verdict
I would give this app a higher rating if it was a dollar less for the full version. I can’t really see my five year old getting much replay value out of it, although it might be better for a three or four year old. The games themselves are decent, and the narration is ok, but the sound effects are annoying.
