Bulletproof Food Detective app review: optimize your health and live a longer and healthier life

Reviews

Introduction

This app features a Relaxing Breath Pacer and Food Sensitivity Test to help you optimize your physical wellbeing by reducing the amount of inflammation in your body, thereby greatly decreasing your risk of contracting various illnesses, including cancer, diabetes, and heart disease.

Food Sense is a great app for monitoring the way your body responds to various types of food, with a view to reducing systemic inflammation in your body as a means to preventing disease and improving your health and wellbeing in the long term.

Living a Healthier Life

Starting up this app, you’re presented with a very simple interface which makes things nice and clear; you can input your morning pulse either manually or by using an external heart rate monitor. There is also the option to use your device’s camera and flash to take your pulse but I’ve been struggling to get a decent reading from this.

The basic idea is that different foods will affect your heart rate differently depending on how well or how poorly your body tolerates them and depending on the amount of inflammation they may promote within your body.

Monitoring your resting heart rate is a great way to experiment with different foods to see which work the best for you, so I would definitely recommend this app to anyone who suffers from recurring illness, infections, and even skin or mood disorders; all of these can be caused or at least exacerbated by inflammation.

The Relax feature is another prominent part of this app and will help you to control your breathing; again, relaxing and reducing your stress levels can be another important factor in reducing the inflammation in your body, as well as improving your body’s pH level to further safeguard your health.

I’m quite hopeful about the efficacy of Food Sense because although a blood test can pick up on a lot of issues, it always helps to also have a different metric for gauging your reactions to food, and using your heart rate as an indicator is as good an idea as any.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Test your body for food allergies and intolerances by taking regular heart rate measurements
  • Use the Relax feature to control your breathing and lower your stress levels
  • Attach an external heart rate monitor for even more accurate readings
  • Heart rate history will help you to spot trends over time

Cons

  • I found the camera pulse measurements to be quite inconsistent

Final Words

If you already own an external heart rate monitor then I would definitely recommend checking this app out because it’s very easy to use and can provide you with a pretty reliable metric for gauging your resting heart rate in relation to your body’s responses to various foods.

I’m not very impressed with how temperamental the camera is for taking pulse readings but I’m not going to put that down to the app being at fault necessarily because it could just be that I’m doing it completely wrong!

Food allergies can make some people’s lives a real misery and I’ve seen this first-hand in one friend in particular; if you think this might apply to you then take a few minutes out of your day to get this app and take some readings because it could potentially change your life.
