World Clock HD app review: Know what time it is anywhere in the world

Reviews

Introduction

World Clock HD Free for iPad by Feng Min is an app that allows you to compare the time between cities all over the world. The app looks nice and is easy to use and with plenty of customizing options it’s a very welcome app to travel with.

Different time zones

The app is supplied with a few preset cities all over the world, each personalized by a landmark building. For example, London shows the Big Ben while New York has the Statue of Liberty next to its name. Click on any of these columns and it highlights, while at the same time a dot will appear on the world map showing the town's exact location. This is very handy to have when you travel a lot and are in different time zones. Also, with family and friends all over the world, it’s nice to keep track of what time they are in.

Name too long

When you first boot up the app, it asks you to share your location. I allowed it, but as I'm currently in a quite obscure town in central Mexico, it didn't recognize the location and it just shows up in a piece of programming code mentioning "long name =." I decided to head to the customize action screen and add some more cities and to my surprise, most cities have a famous landmark that is unique for that town. For less popular destinations, the app picks a landmark nearest to the town you've picked. You can also customize the cloud of the time zones on this page.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • nice looking app
  • add tons of places
  • world map

Cons

  • Doesn't recognize all locations
  • the ad in the bottom blocks view from the middle cities.

Conclusion

Though this app does nothing that the iPad can't already do, the aesthetics of this app are very nice and it gives enough customization options to be used. I would give this app a 10-out-of-10 rating if the ad wasn't in such an obnoxious place, or even if the creator gave an option to remove it for a small fee.
