Guide for iCloud - iOS 6 Edition app review: learn all about what iCloud is

Reviews

Introduction

This app features extensive categorized guides about iCloud, covering topics such as the basics of setting it up, the various features as they pertain to iTunes, Photo Stream, and managing documents, and loads more to leave you with a well-rounded understanding of how the service works.

This app has a very basic function which I think it serves perfectly well; Guide for iCloud features a simple grayscale user-interface which is largely text-based and I think this suits it very well because the information is presented in a no-nonsense format with a layout that is incredibly easy to navigate.

If you’re stuck with iCloud and want to learn more about it then Guide for iCloud is the perfect place to start.

Head in the Clouds

Starting this app for the first time, you’ll be presented with a basic menu which acts as your contents page, so to speak. You’ll find sections covering setting up iCloud, the basics of what it does, a rundown of the primary functions, and instructions on how to create and manage your iCloud account.

There is also a fifth section entitled “Secrets” wherein you can be redirected to the App Store to purchase an additional 50 iCloud secrets including how to set up a personal hotspot or send an encrypted message.

There isn’t a massive amount to say about Guide for iCloud because it doesn’t have a huge degree of functionality; however, the content which is included is very clearly laid out and I’ve managed to get through most of it in a single sitting.

One of the things I like most about this app, besides the useful information, is that it doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not; this really is a no-frills instructional app which you can keep on your iOS device and refer to from time to time if you ever get stuck while using iCloud.

Guide for iCloud is ad-supported by they’re just non-intrusive banner ads which sit at the bottom, rather than the full-screen fanfare you get with some free apps.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Comprehensive guide for using iCloud
  • Fully updated to include iOS 6 features
  • Clear and concise with a minimalist grayscale layout
  • Ads are non-intrusive

Cons

  • There is nothing negative to say about this app

Clear Skies Ahead

To reiterate, there isn’t much to comment on due to this app’s lack of functionality. It does, however, provide a solid reference resource which will give you a great initial overview of iCloud, while leaving you with a virtual instruction manual you can go back to as and when you need to.

If you’re new to iCloud or even if you just have a few questions about one or two of the features, I’d definitely urge you to check out Guide for iCloud because it’s fully updated for iOS 6 and will almost certainly answer any questions you might have so that you can take your head out of the clouds and spend your time more productively!
