DJ Mix app review: mix and blend songs in your Music Library to become the ultimate party host

Reviews

Introduction

This app enables you to stack up two of the songs from your Music Library side by side and then fade one into the other to create a seamless transition between tracks that is ideal for any would be DJ who wants to host a party but doesn’t have an expensive audio setup.

While not the most incredibly functional app in the world, DJ Mix does serve a pretty simple purpose and I think it does this very well. The controls are very simple and you don’t need any prior musical or DJ-ing experience in order to get some decent results and impress your guests.

Hey Mister DJ Put a Record On

This app really couldn’t be easier to use, and if you know enough about iPhones to play Angry Birds or browse Facebook, you’re more than qualified enough to become a mobile DJ!

All you need to do is select two songs from your Music Library which will then be imported into the app, from here you can adjust the volumes accordingly, and if you want to add cross fading or cue points, these are also available via in-app purchase.

You can fast forward through each track to find the ideal point to fade in and out between songs but this is only possible in increments of five seconds so you won’t be able to get too precise.

Overall, I think DJ Mix delivers on all of its promises and the simple user-interface makes it a real cinch for anyone to quickly pick it up and learn the features.

You’ll often notice at parties that the silence spots between songs can really linger and create an ugly contrast which breaks up the night; it’s very subtle, of course, but it’s definitely there. With DJ Mix, however, you’ll be able to completely avoid this and add a touch of cool professionalism to your event to ensure it really goes out with a bang.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Fade between two songs to create seamless transitions
  • Use songs directly from your Music Library
  • Create a professional sound to your audio that is perfect for hosting parties

Cons

  • It would be great to be able to import more than two songs at once, this would enable you to queue up a few tracks at once and walk away from DJ Mix to let it do its thing

Last Night a DJ Saved My Life

This really is a cool little app and I think a lot of people would benefit from using this at parties and other gatherings.

The only minor complaint I have is that I think you should be able to import more than two tracks at once because this way, the app would require a lot less supervision and you could just set up the fades and then leave it to run its course.

Aside from this, DJ Mix definitely gets the thumbs-up from my end, so be sure to give it a whirl and see what you think.
