Introduction
SpaceEffect, the self-styled “Awesome Pic & Fotos FX Editor” by click2mobile, allows you to take a photo or pick one from your Camera Roll and apply all kinds of effects to it. As I’ve seen quite a few of these apps coming by, I was worried that this one would be another one of those terrible photo editing apps. Are my feelings about this one right, or have I finally found a photo editing app that actually functions properly and has cool features? You can read my findings below.
Unique Color, Glow, and Flame Effects!
Basically, what this app lets you do is add rainbows, fireworks, glow effects, and different kinds of fire and flame effects to photos. Regrettably, the app is only designed for iPhone, and not for iPad, which does very strange things to my photos when I try to edit them. It kind of stretches my photos and when I add on effects, the effects don’t rotate the same way as my photo does, making the app unusable for me.
I have worked my way around it slightly, but I can’t get my pictures to look normal instead of stretched. Unlike other similar apps I’ve played with recently, you can stack different effects, which allows you to play around and make your photos look unique.
Other Editing Options and Photo Sharing Features
On top of all the features mentioned before, SpaceEffect also allows you to edit and draw different effects onto an already existing one, meaning you can add text, make drawings, and even create your own effect. Albeit, these are very limited (there are 12 colors and around 15 different brush sizes). In terms of saving and sharing your photo, you have plenty of options. As usual, you can save it to your Camera Roll or email it to yourself or your friends.
The app allows you to crop the picture when you share it on Instagram, and you can post the photo from within the app on Flickr as well. The other usual suspects are available too, in the guise of Facebook and Twitter. There is also an “other” option in the Save menu, but this doesn’t seem to do anything.
Throughout the usage of the app, ads pop up, most of them guiding you to other similar apps from the same company.

Conclusion
SpaceEffect in itself is not a bad app. It lets you play around with different and pretty cool effects. I would like to see those effects being made available as brushes, but maybe that happens in the Pro version, which sets you back only $0.99. Since the app is not compatible with iPad, I would only suggest this app to iPhone and iPod users. The editing options make sure you can create really custom photos; none of them will be the same!
