An App that Really HIITs the Spot!

As a quick foreword I should mention that while you can access all of the functionality within the individual timers in this app, you will need to upgrade to Seconds Pro if you want to be able to save, share, and import timers, and this is available for $0.99.

There are seven varieties of timer to choose from ranging from Circuit Training and Round, to Tabata and Compound.

A full explanation of each timer is available by tapping the Info button on the right before you enter into the customization settings, and once you’re in you will be able to fully personalize each one to your liking.

Taking the HIIT timer as an example, you can name each one you create and set the number of sets. From here, you can set the title, duration, background color, and even the music that will play during the warm up, high intensity intervals, low intensity intervals, and cool down.

I really love the way you can play your own songs through this app because it saves having to fiddle around changing tracks every few minutes, and even if you have a pre-made playlist, it’s never going to sync up perfectly with each interval; Interval Timer – Seconds solves this perfectly.

Final Words

As interval-based styles of exercise have grown in popularity over the past few years, there has been a pretty large influx of apps centered around short, fast-paced, high-intensity workouts, with all manner of timers, pre-set exercise sequences, and fitness trackers.

While so many of them try to pad out the features with endless unnecessary fluff, I really think that the developer Interval Timer – Seconds has HIIT the nail on the head, so to speak.

Having such a high degree of customization at your fingertips means you get to pick the exercises, duration, and loads of other aspects of your workout, rather than having to drag yourself through the same old routine over and over again.

I know that this style of exercise doesn’t appeal to everyone, but if you have even a modest repertoire of exercises in your head and you know how to sequence a decent interval workout, you’ll absolutely love this app – and if you don’t have the knowledge to piece your own session together, a two-minute Google search will usually provide all the answers you need!
