'Adobe Reader' Sets New Standard For Mobile Doc Viewing

Adobe is making the document reading process clearer and more efficient than ever before with the Adobe Reader app. Clearer than any other form of e-document reader, Adobe has stepped up its formatting capabilities, making tedious long documents easy to read from an iPhone, iPod or iPad.

Users can touch a drop-down icon and choose to view documents in single-page, automatic or continuous page format. On all viewing formats, a transparent horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of the page allows users to jump to parts of a document that are most pertinent or interesting. Other key attributes include optimized zoom, search, ability to e-mail the file and even print wirelessly with AirPrint.

The Adobe Reader’s app home page stores recently downloaded files, and allows bookmarking on most documents. Conveniently, the most recent page viewed opens automatically upon revisting the app.

Adobe has stepped up its document access, now allowing even the most secure password-protected documents to be accessed from a mobile iOS device. Users can view mock-ups, sticky notes, PDF Packages, annotations and PDF Portfolios. In this version, the capabilities to annotate, markup and highlight are not yet available from the mobile user end. Hopefully, we’ll see this addition upcoming.

Still, Adobe has taken a big leap in usibility and clarity, and is currently the best app out on the market for document readers.
