Cheer Directory app review: your one-stop app for anything to do with the cheerleading business

Introduction

Cheer Directory by RRC is an app created for anyone who has anything to do with the cheerleading business. The Cheer Directory app gives you access to many different vendors and businesses around the world for just about anything cheerleading related. For each business in the directory, you can find, if and when available, their website, email, phone number, location, driving directions and more! There is also a sub-menu option that allows you to connect to the cheer blog.

Different Categories and Content

I’m sure this app has by far not all cheerleading industry-related businesses listed in this app. Even though there are 25 categories, ranging from cheer costumes to cheer judges and from cheers gyms to companies specializing in cheer leading insurances, most of these categories only have one business listed in the sub-menu and even then not all the information in there is complete. The app promises tons of information and driving directions, but most of the actual listings are just a name and a phone number.

Since this app hasn’t received an update since the 21^st of October 2011, I don’t even believe half of the information is still valid!

 

External Links and Information

In most of the cases, a website is supplied linking you directly to the supplier's homepage. This all happens in-app, which is really annoying, as the in-app browser is slow and doesn’t load half the pages properly. Even the official website of the Cheerleading Foundation, where the cheerleading rules are to be found, doesn’t exist anymore, or has moved to a different location. In addition, most of the business detailed in this app seem to be in the greater New York and New Jersey areas. The cheerleaders-only area of the app, where the cheer blog can be found, is empty. None of the pages here load at all and are a complete waste of space. The inclusion of a map would be also very handy.

Conclusion

I have to say I have nothing at all to do with cheerleading, as it doesn’t exist where I come from. I know nothing about it except that it is big business in the United States. I can’t imagine why the people behind this app don’t keep it up to date and even throw a few ads in, as I found this in the top sports apps on the app store. For an app with so much possibility, I can’t believe that there are so few business actually listed in this app. It is a very small directory. I can only recommend this to the actual cheerleader diehards and people who run a cheer team in their school.
