With the release of the new film, The Hunger Games : Catching Fire, just around the corner, The Hunger Games Adventures by FunTactix Inc. has made a lot more new content available recently. Throughout this game you will be exploring, adventuring, and traveling though the world of the Hunger Games from the first and second movies. You will also be running into different characters from both the books and the movies, with whom you can interact and survive!

A Typical Social Game

In the beginning of the game you will be learning the trades of this game and you will not run out of energy that quickly, mainly because you’ll gather enough experience to level up and regain all your energy, just like in other games with a similar concept. Then you will soon enough learn how to survive by setting traps, gathering food, and killing all kinds of enemies on your path.

You will need to build your own little house and village. As with all social games, there are plenty of ways to customize your character to make him or her look just like you!

 

Different In-App Currency and Energy

This is a free and promotional app; however, there are plenty of things you will be able to spend real-life money on. You can buy more coins, which are needed to buy stuff in-game, but where it really starts to hurt are the so-called credits. You will need these credits to refill your energy if it runs out, and that’s where you will need it the most. If you want to have a good play session with this game you will need to use these credits to buy energy, as it will run out quicker than you think.

Everything you do in the game costs energy, but you only get rewarded with energy for some tasks. Your energy will replenish over time, but it takes quite a while.

Conclusion

The Hunger Games Adventures has won a lot of different awards throughout the last year. I struggle to see why, as there are so many better social games out there in the App Store. I have to say, the setting is rather unique and there is a lot to do, but I find this game simply boring. It’s hard to get into, especially if you’re not a Hunger Games fan, and even if you are, the tasks you need to do are all quite menial and the game doesn’t seem to reward you at all for playing.

The app is 239 MB in size and is compatible for both iPad and iPhone. I wouldn’t recommend this game.
