Fitter Fitness Calculator & Weight Tracker app review: monitor your BMI, body fat, and more

Reviews

Introduction

This is a very handy app which features a comprehensive set of tools which you can use to calculate your bodily proportions, metabolic rate, and other markers of health and fitness. You also get the added bonus of being able to track your progress over time with a selection of detailed graphs.

I think this app is pretty useful for calculating your BMI and BMR, the latter of which appears to be calculated using the very well-known Benedict Harris Formula. I would take the body fat figures with a pinch of salt because this is a very difficult reading to determine and simply using your weight and waist size is definitely not an accurate way of doing so.

All in all, this is a decent app for those of you wanting to monitor your fitness progress over time, so I would definitely suggest checking it out.

Getting Fitter All the Time

This app has a very simple and easy-to-use interface. When you first start, you’ll be presented with the main menu which includes links to the BMI Calculator, BMR Calculator, Body Fat Calculator, and Waist-to-Hip Ratio Calculator.

BMI or Body Mass Index uses your height and weight to provide a rough guideline of where you are relative to the recommended weight level for your height.

BMR or Basal Metabolic Rate is calculated using your height, weight, age, sex, and your activity level. It will produce a figure representing how many calories you must consume each day to maintain your current body weight.

Body Fat is simply the percentage of your body which is made up of fatty tissues, and Waist to Hip Ratio is exactly as the name would suggest.

Hold Yourself Accountable

While this is a very well-designed app, I wouldn’t recommend it to an intermediate or advanced athlete or someone with a high-level physique. I say this because the BMI is a very outdated metric and the Body Fat calculator is going to have a very wide margin for error because of the measurements used.

Having said that, I absolutely would recommend Fitter Fitness Calculator to those of you who aren’t serious athletes but are looking to improve your health and fitness while having a consistent way of measuring your progress.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Set a weight goal for yourself and be accountable for your progress
  • Track your progress on a variety of graphs
  • Share your progress online via Facebook and Twitter

  • There is nothing negative to say about this app

Final Words

I’m really pleased to see the section for tracking your progress. You can view all of the individual measurements from the Fitter Fitness Calculator tools plotted on a graph on a daily, weekly, monthly, or all-time basis.

What’s more, you can brag about your progress online by sharing your graphs on Facebook and Twitter.

As I mentioned, this app isn’t for experienced athletes but it will definitely help to motivate and offer some accountability to people who are just getting started on the road to Fitter Fitness!
