Translate Voice Free app review: use your voice to translate among English, French, and Spanish

Reviews

Introduction

This is the free version of Translate Voice which enables you to speak directly into your device’s microphone in order to translate words and phrases from one language to another. This free voice translator app includes English, French, and Spanish audio translations.

This app appears to work very well, provided you speak clearly into the microphone. I’ve tried translating English to French and I know a little Spanish so I translated a few phrases back into English with a one-hundred-percent success rate; it's very impressive.

Bonjour, Mon Ami!

I’d like to start this review by pointing out that this is the free version of Voice Translate so the functionality is far more restrictive than the full version of the app.

Because of this, you will only have access to English, French, and Spanish translations, with plenty more languages available, including Arabic, Chinese, German, Japanese, Russian, Swedish, and Turkish.

With this free version you can only perform around four or five translations per day but the paid version allows unlimited translations so I would definitely suggest checking Translate Voice Free before going for the full version.

Hola, Mi Amigo!

As for the app itself, the translations are very good and each one I’ve done so far has been spot-on, even with my embarrassingly bad Spanish pronunciation!

The layout is very simple and you’ll see the flags of the two countries’ languages you’ve selected at the bottom. From here you can simply tap one of the flags and begin speaking to translate your word or phrase, and the app will detect once you’ve finished speaking.

If you go to the Settings menu you can actually deactivate Detect End of Speech if you wish.

Final Words

I’ve used a fair number of translating apps in the past, both in text and vocal formats. Although I’ve seen apps in this category which are available for free and offer more functionality than this free version of Translate Voice, the quality and consistency of the translations has always been lacking.

It’s great to have finally found a translation app where you don’t have to speak like super slow robot in order to be understood and receive a decent translation, so the developer definitely gets full marks for what they’ve achieved in that regard.

If you’re on the lookout for an app like this, you absolutely must check out Translate Voice Free because it looks great, runs like a charm, and the translations have so far been utterly impeccable for me.

Check out this free version and if you like what you see, perhaps you can then consider upgrading to the paid version for more languages and unlimited daily translations.
