Reminisce About Your Childhood In 'Snoopy's Street Fair'

Reviews

Revisit your favorite Peanuts characters with the Snoopy’s Street Fair app from Beeline Interactive. Charlie Brown and friends come to life as you create a virtual street fair to help the gang enter a baseball tournament. Flood of memories kick in with the different sound bites reflecting each character, especially with Snoopy’s laugh and Charlie Brown’s philosophical yet depressing thoughts. There are many terrific aspects to the game but a lot of them fall short of their potential and may ultimately lose a player’s interest. The game offers a variety of different tasks to facilitate player interaction. Some tasks involve collecting different suits such as Joe Cool or Art Master. Others involve purchasing affordable items to attract more costumers or waking up Snoopy to help maintain the street fair’s cleanliness. Although these little tasks are cute and fun the first time, they fall flat due to a lack of challenge and become rather boring. Some tasks require a lot of gaming time and coin collecting, making the street fair more tedious than fun. Mini games also promote player interaction but are very limited due to the game’s In-App-Purchases (IAP). One mini game free of charge is Snoopy’s Lemon Twist requiring the player to fill a pitcher of freshly squeezed lemonade without getting stung by wasps. I found the game pretty fun, although overly simplistic. This game also refreshes every two hours, keeping the player from gaining experience easily. This approach bothered me since it only adds to the constant waiting of the game. Rather than refreshing, the app should add different obstacles to the mini game or better yet, add more accessible and affordable mini games! The rest of the games require Snoopy dollars which are received after leveling up. The only way to play these games without having to play non-stop is through real purchases of Snoopy dollars. I don’t favor IAP, but my love for the Peanuts gang tempted me to buy some Snoopy dollars.

A few things I really enjoyed from the game were the photo booth and comic strips. The photo booth lets the player take pictures with many different Peanuts characters, including Lucy with her psychiatric help stand. You can also post these pictures via Facebook or save them to your camera roll. The comic strips are funny and bring back lots of memories from my childhood. A new strip is unlocked after leveling up, which was a good incentive for me to keep playing. I enjoyed Snoopy’s Street Fair but I found myself doing the same thing: collecting coins and completing the same tasks.  Although coins are easily gained some stands were pricey to purchase but my consistent profits from the fair made it easy to rebuild up my worth. After each level I looked forward to purchasing a new character or stand. The  drawback was the constant wait for these stands or characters to generate money and xp, ranging from 30 seconds to 24 hours. At times I left the game running all day, killing some of my iPhone’s battery life. Snoopy’s Street Fair is a great app to reminisce about your childhood. All the characters come to life and follow your commands but the tasks and overall game interaction is pretty bland. A lot of fun accessories, characters and mini games are available with IAP only, making the game less convenient and fun. Although the cons outweigh the pros, you can’t go wrong with the Peanut gang. Check them out and judge for yourself. AppPicker Rating: 3 / 5 Stars Pick It Up in the App Store: Snoopy's Street Fair Other apps by Beeline Interactive
