'The Real Yellow Pages For iPad' Is (Unfortunately) Like The Printed Directory, Just Lighter
YellowPages.com has unveiled its print yellow page counterpart for the iPad, called The Real Yellow Pages for iPad. For anyone who knows how to use a print directory book, the navigation is easy but the app ultimately fails miserably at taking advantage of the iPad's technology.
The app allows a search-by-state feature, which then opens the directory for a particular geographic location. Search results bring up a digitized version of a yellow page book, with rows and rows of local businesses and people, highlighted according to the search. Search results can be stored or shared, but that’s where the ease of experience ends.
The app doesn’t highlight your direct search but instead highlights a portion of the page. So, if you're sending to a friend, it will send the entire highlighted section of 10 numbers. The app also doesn’t incorporate easy text management or any text copying so users will have to memorize the number the directory provides and then call the number. So much for this app ever becoming a useful iPhone version.
There aren’t maps or many perks, but for those just looking for their yellow pages to feel a little lighter, this app provides the bare bones experience. Instead of picking up this app, I recommend downloading Yellow Page's other app,
YP Yellow Pages for iPad, instead.
