Introduction
Pocket Music by masayuki mieno is an app that allows you to create playlists by searching and selecting songs on YouTube. This app is hidden in the Photo and Video category on the App Store, but it should be filed in the Music category, as you won’t be able to watch the videos that come with the song within this app. The app is easy to use and has tons of genres already set up from which to choose. In the free version you can store up to 30 tracks in your library.
Creating a Playlist
When the app starts up, you will find yourself at the Explore screen, which allows you to pick from a huge number of music genres. When you select the genre of your choice, a list of artists and songs need to be loaded, which can take up to a minute depending on your connection. When you’ve found a song of your liking, you get another list with different versions of the song, just as you would get by searching a song on YouTube. The quality of the music is dependent on the quality of the video the music you chose.
When you find the right version for you, simply add it to your playlist and you can start playing the song. You will need to be online constantly, as the app streams the songs straight from the Internet.
Premium Version
As said before, you can add up to 30 songs in your playlist, and you can play this playlist in the background while you add more songs to it. The app also supports play when you’re not in the app.
When you upgrade to premium, you can add as many songs to your playlist as you want and you can create different music libraries. In addition to this, the ads will disappear from the app, making the app faster to use, and the songs and genres show up a lot faster within the app. Going premium costs $2.99, which is a bit steep compared to what you get for it.
The app also supports shuffle play, which is cool if you have an extensive library.
