Exercise Your Fingers in 'Slide Soccer'

Slide Soccer by Ideateca is a new multiplayer online game for both the iPhone and iPad. The premise is simple: it is a one-on-one soccer game where you attempt to launch your balls into the opponent's goal. It sports a single player mode if you don't want to connect online and a shop to unlock all of the features via payments. The game is really hands on and it lets your fingers do the talking. From the get go, you can play with the raining sports balls on the menu screen which is pretty addicting in itself. In terms of gameplay, it is less like soccer and more like multi-puck air hockey. You start by selecting the field, ball type, goals to win, and whether it is turn based (including 'strategic' that lets you move more than one ball per turn) and real time (so both players move together). The field and balls are purely aesthetic, while the other options influence just how you'll win.

To move your balls it is as easy: drag your finger to determine speed, curve, and angle. Curving works by first holding the ball in place with one finger and using a second finger to angle it. You can also tap to zoom for more precision and double tap to invert the direction of your shot, in case there is a wall blocking your movements. Overall it is easy to control and easy to learn. It has yet to reach it's full potential as there are bugs typical of any apps in early version. More and more these are being resolved, so the game will be more responsive. Nonetheless, the game is enjoyable, if only for a short while but you won't be missing much if it happens to slide right past you.
