Tube Map London app review: easily navigate the labyrinthine London Underground 2021

Reviews

Introduction

This is likely to be the only iPhone London app you’ll ever need to find your way around the tube network of the London Underground. Far from being just a map, you’ll also have access to a journey planner, departure times, line closures, and much more.

I was born and raised in Olde London Town and I don’t think that even Londoners really have any clue what’s going on with the tube network half of the time, and that’s before even mentioning line closures, diversions, and who knows what else!

Tube Map London is a good London app for iPhone and iPad that features a comprehensive set of tools which you can use as your lifeline for navigating the notoriously difficult London Underground. Keep reading our Tube Map London app review for more details.

Maybe it's Because I'm a Londoner...

I’d like to start this review by saying that I’m utterly amazed by Tube Map London being a completely free app. I probably shouldn’t say this but there are millions of tourists each year who would probably quite gladly pay a dollar to have all of these features in one place!

Keeping with the name of this app, the first thing you’ll see when starting it up is the well-known Transport for London Tube Map, complete with a key at the bottom so you’ll know which line is which.

If you bring up the sidebar on the left, you’ll see that the map is just one feature of many, and you’ll also be able to tap on Lines to make sure that the line you need is going to be open either Now, Later, or over the Weekend. This is handy because there are usually a handful of line closures on weekends.

Stay Updated On Line Closures

The Notifications section is great because it enables you to receive alerts with updates for individual lines on specific days within a given time range, so you can remain aware of any interruptions in service that may affect your travel plans.

The Routing section is basically a journey planner which you can type your start location and destination into, and select options such as Fastest Route, Fewest Changes, and Smart Routing.

Considering this is a free app, I would definitely recommend keeping it handy. Whether you’re a London commuter or you’re thinking of taking your vacation in the city, Tube Map London could prove to be a lifesaver, believe me!

Final Words

The features in this app are more or less what you’ll find on the official Transport for London website; however, having it all in an app format is so much more convenient.

I’ve never been a fan of navigating websites through iPhone browsers so Tube Map London definitely makes life a little easier in that regard; written with true English reserve!
