The Orton Effect is a photography technique that blends two completely different photos from the same scene, resulting in a distinctive mix of high and low detail parts of the photo. This makes certain aspects of the scene stand out while others get moved to the background. How It Works

As with any other photo app, you first have to take or select a photo from your Camera Roll. When you’ve done this, you can start adding effects to the photo. These effects actually have nothing to do with the explanation I have given about the Orton Effect in the introduction paragraph, but are merely stickers you can place on the photo. I have been able to add different filters on a photo, but have never been able to focus more or less on a particular part of the photo. You can also add text to a photo, and you can play around with the different setting most photo apps have to offer. Nothing here stands out specifically.

Saving and Not Sharing, and In-App Purchases

When you are happy with your photo, which is quite hard as the app doesn’t actually do what its name implies, you can only choose to save the photo in the Orton Effect folder on your device. There are no sharing options available in this menu, but anyone can quickly figure out how to share this photo via numerous social networking apps.

There aren’t any ads in the app that annoy you, though there are tons of different options that are not available in the free version of this app. For example, to buy new color filters, you will need to pay $0.99, while in other apps, these filters come free of charge.

If you get excited by finding an app with this name, please leave this app be, as you will only become disappointed. The app simply doesn’t have the ability to replicate the Orton Effect.
