This game has left me well and truly humbled. I started playing Snakes and Apples thinking it was a children’s game, but my arrogance definitely caused some trouble for me once I got past the initial tutorial stages!

This game is a massive amount of fun and is definitely suitable for kids and adults alike.

There are a few very simple concepts in this game; you’ll pick them up very quickly but don’t expect to breeze through every level with ease, because it ain’t gonna happen!

The first few levels are actually laid out as tutorial stages which gradually introduce you to the various elements of the gameplay. All you really have to do is drag your snake around the grid, making sure that you cover each square before running out of space.

Things get interesting once apples and obstacles are introduced, as you’ll have to make sure you eat the apples in a certain order, so don’t get cocky like I did and rush around because you can’t undo your moves and you’ll only come unstuck, again, just like me!

 

Great Fun for Kids and Adults

There are 20 worlds to explore, covering a variety of environments such as grassy fields and deserts, and each world contains up to 30 levels. I’ll let you do the math, but needless to say, there are plenty of levels to keep you busy for a very long time!

Snakes and Apples features all of the basic elements that I think make a great iPhone game: lush cartoon-y graphics, a high-quality original soundtrack, a basic gameplay concept, hundreds of levels, and a surprisingly tricky difficulty curve that will humble you more often than you might think.

This game has all the makings of an App Store hit, and I would definitely recommend taking it for a slither!

There isn’t much more to say about Snakes and Apples than I’ve already said, except to emphasize the point that this game is great for both children and adults, so I think it’s a wonderful way for you to spend a little quality time with the kids and get their brains ticking with some problem solving.
