Face Off Against Supernatural Creatures In Sensational 'Six-Guns'
In Six-Guns by Gameloft, players take on the role of an outlaw in the Old West. You can walk, run, or ride horses through two states, Arizona and Oregon, and are guided by a buxom mistress who instructs you on missions and periodically gives you tips. I really enjoyed this game: it has solid graphics, an eccentric storyline, and players need not complete missions consecutively. Players face off against two main kinds of enemies: other outlaws and supernatural creatures. Aside from killing outlaws, zombies, vampires, and other ghouls, missions can include helping people forage for plants or hunt animals. If only the first half of that sentence sounds exciting, that’s understandable. But even while foraging and hunting you can run into a gunfight (and if you’re hunting rattlesnakes, yes, they will attack you).

One great feature of gunfights is the ability to hide behind barriers and aim around corners (once you shoot, you have to expose yourself to enemy fire). Another thing I really appreciate about the game is if you can’t complete a mission right away, you can move on to a different mission and come back later, rather than stubbornly running through the same mission over and over again. Complete missions advances you to higher and more difficult levels. With each level, you unlock new weapons, clothing, horses, and healing potions. The early weapons are what you’d expect from the setting: revolvers, rifles, and shotguns. More advanced weapons range from the almost-kind-of-realistic “Gatling Annihilator” to the more interesting “Demon Thrower” and “Crucificator.” Although not termed “armor”, better clothing does offer protection. Better horses are basically faster (at the high end of quality is the “mechanical horse”).
