When to Use the App

So how do you know if your child is old enough to start working on letters and words? Well you really can't start too early when it comes to learning how to spell, what sounds letters make, and of course learning letters themselves.

Best iphone and ipad apps

At first glance this app seems incredibly simplistic but it doesn’t take long to see that this is part of the beauty of the app. It is meant to be simple so that kids don’t get overwhelmed by functions, features, and tools. Instead, the focus is on learning letters, words, and sounds.

Kids are given a picture of an object, shaded letters of how to spell the word, and then the letters themselves which are jumbled up on the bottom of the screen. They need to place the letter in the right position by dragging them.

When they correctly place them in order the narrator will speak each letter and then what the word spells. This gives them a chance to learn their letters and what that combination of letters spells.

Keeping Things Fun

Of course the emphasis is on spelling in this app but the developer also recognizes that having fun in the process is imperative. The images are all fun and engaging for kids and there are sound effects to go along with each picture.

After a players spells a word correctly the image becomes animated with sound effects so kids get a mini-reward each time they spell a word.

Kids won't feel frustrated when it comes to gameplay here as it was designed for even the smallest of fingers to be able to navigate and use. The app also works as a good springboard for parents to discuss letters and the sounds they make opening the doors to learning.
