Hightail (formerly YouSendIt) app review: easily manage and sync your files and folders

Introduction

This is a great  file manager app which enables you to securely store your photos and videos, share them online with others, create project folders to share with your team, and even electronically sign important documents while all of your activities are synced across all of your devices.

The highly successful YouSentIt app has been renamed and rebranded with a fresh new design, but the developer has done a great job of ensuring that a high level of awesome functionality is still on offer.

I’m extremely impressed with what you can do with this app, and being able to electronically sign documents is the icing on the cake.

Hightail It!

Immediately upon starting up this app for the first time I was very pleased to see that the registration process is a real cinch, requiring minimal information and taking no more than about 30 seconds or so.

Once you’ve signed up, one of the first things you’ll probably want to do is start adding some of your files to Hightail. This can be achieved by tapping the Store button in the bottom left-hand corner, and from here you can choose whether to import the file or files from your Photo Library or to take a photo with your camera from directly within the app.

I should note that although this app is free, the initial download includes a Lite account which entitles you up to 2GB of storage space. If you want more space then you can upgrade to a Pro or ProPlus subscription via in-app purchase.

Sync and Share Your Files With Ease

Once your files have been uploaded, you can hit the My Folders button to see them. Tap on a file to download it from the storage server and open it directly within the app. From here you can either send it to one of your Facebook or iPhone contacts, email it to someone, copy the link, or even use the Open In… feature.

Signing documents is also very easy and is achieved with not much more than a simple tap or swipe of your finger.

What’s more, I’d suggest looking at the Settings menu because from here you can take a guided tour of the various features if you get stuck, store your signature using Quick Sign, and even apply a Passcode Lock to the entire app.

This really is an awesome app for sharing images and videos with others online, and if you’re looking for a quick and easy way to sync up your files between devices then you really can’t go wrong with Hightail.
