Flood Search Free is designed to increase awareness among the public of the likelihood of flooding from rivers and the sea, and to encourage people to find out their properties flood risks from rivers and the sea. This app contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. It uses open data, which is distributed by the Environment Agency of England, contains Ordnance Survey data © Crown copyright and database right 2015 This app searches information about each postcode unit in England allocated one of four flood risk likelihood categories. • High: each year, there is a chance of flooding of greater than 1 in 30 (3.3%). • Medium: each year, there is a chance of flooding of between 1 in 30 (3.3%) and 1 in 100 (1%). • Low: each year, there is a chance of flooding of between 1 in 100 (1%) and 1 in 1000 (0.1%). • Very Low: each year, there is a chance of flooding of less than 1 in 1000 (0.1%). The number of properties in postcode units where the likelihood of flooding is greater than or equal to 1 in 75 (1.3%) in each year are identified. This falls within the category of “significant risk” as defined in the Statement of Principles; an agreement between the Association of British Insurers and the Government.
