After 22 years the genius Van Gogh is back in Rome!
“Vincent van Gogh. Campagna senza tempo – Città moderna” is the official app of the exhibit held at the Complesso del Vittoriano (8 October 2010 - 6 February 2011).
Vincent van Gogh: a crazy, tormented and cursed artist as well as a cultured and ambitious man aware of his talent and value. A life defined by deep contradictions most evident and reflected in his paintings. This exhibit is dedicated to one of these contradictions and illustrated through an unusual selection of works: on the one hand the countryside, where nature appears unchangeable and farmers’ lives seem to run their course in an almost timeless dimension; on the other hand the city, where modern life moves in a hectic rhythm and industrial progress changes man’s destiny.
The exhibit consists of 70 masterpieces (paintings, watercolors and works on paper) by Van Gogh as well as 30 works by great artists that inspired him (Millet, Pissarro, Gauguin, Cézanne, Seurat only some among them).
The official app offers:
• a video introduction;
• a selection of works with in depth commentaries and zoom enabled images;
• an interactive map of the exhibit;
• a section with practical information (prices, times, pre-sales, links).
