Learn Japanese by studying words included in contemporary sentences. Japanese2000 Free contains 250 common Japanese words and for each, kanji (when applicable), hiragana, romanji, english are included. The sentences are carefully constructed just for this application and focus primarily on the grammar found in JLPT levels N5.
Most applications containing sentences take them from the public available Japanese projects. These are however rather complex and difficult to grasp for beginner and intermediates.
Japanese2000 wants to overcome this and its sentences are created to be easy enough to be learned with moderate effort, but at the same time useful as they can be applied in normal conversation. Focus is on every day speech pattern, as a modern japanese between 20 and 30 years old would have said it. No stiff text book style.
Students of all levels will benefit from the application. Beginners can start of with the romanji support before having learnt hiragana and katakana. More advanced students can enable kanji focus and study using hiragana / kanji relation. Default study option is to use english / hiragana relation.
Note that japanese grammar style often omit the subject of the sentence. Due to that we have used a mix of inserting (I) and just used the basic verb form of the sentence. It might look strange to someone used to text book japanese, but this is the real thing!
The first level from the full app is included, starting out easy. One level would normally take one month to pass unless you put in a lot of time and is dedicated.
The application uses interval study to effectively reinforce words and sentences. This will lead to focus on new words and words that you repeatedly fails to remember. Other words will reappear over time, more seldom if you know the words.
