APPLICATION FOR REPORTING A PUBLIC SAFETY INCIDENT TO A DESIGNATED GOVERNMENT PUBLIC SAFETY AGENCY (PATENT PENDING)
The BastaYaPR mobile application is a novel user friendly tool to submit information rich multi–media incident reports to a designated government public safety agency. The app can be integrated with the police department incident management system. The user receives an incident report number to be able to follow-up the report. The public safety agency can also send push notifications to the users, including amber alerts and other emergency alerts.
Information sharing between law enforcement and other government public safety agencies is an important part of crime prevention and reduction efforts. Many citizens report incidents or suspected criminal activity to local, state, or federal law enforcement via phone hotlines or online via browser based web pages associated with respective agencies. These information submission vehicles, however, have limitations on the amount, type, and timeliness of the information submitted.
This application provides a user friendly way of incident information submission to public safety agencies taking advantage of the widespread and ever-growing use of smartphones and other intelligent devices by the general public. The following information is sent as part of the incident report: Name and telephone number (is not sent if the anonymous option is selected), date, time, text description of incident, audio recording, video or photo.
NOTICE: At this time this application works only with the Puerto Rico Police Department to report incidents within the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Other local, state, and federal public safety agencies will be added.
