First as kids and then as parents, most of us have gone through a tedious process of dealing with multiplication tables. The most widespread approach has always been to learn them by heart: Hours and hours spent repeating them again and again until they found a place in our memory, ready to be put into use. Was that a successful method ? Of course it was. Was that an enjoyable experience ? We think it wasn't.
We wished to make the times table learning experience a little bit more attractive and embroiling. This wish has given birth to an idea which has guided us in the making of Fun Times Tables. We have kept the learning by heart approach, but we have tried to present it in a colorful, interactive and playful way. We think kids learn faster and more easily when they are actively involved.
A lot of balloons will be inflated and fly in the sky. Kids will have to touch the right balloons that match a given result. The result will always be shown in a red heart shaped balloon. At the beginning they will be exposed to the only possible right choice. This will provide the information they need to memorize. Only when they prove to have acquired it, many choices will be progressively presented in order for them to be able to consolidate the results. At this stage they will begin to get points for their selections.
The game implements a trial and error approach where the game logic will take care of presenting over and over what is to be learnt based on the previous right and wrong matchings.
Multiplication tables from 1 to 10 will be presented. The game will start with table number 1 and only when a table has been learnt the next one will be introduced. The application will keep track of the learning progresses of up to five players. Once a table has been learnt a little heart balloon will appear at the bottom of the screen.
If a player already knows some of the tables, he or she will quickly advance to the next one.
This game should be played frequently until all the 10 little heart balloons will appear.
This application will not ask for personal information, has no in-app purchase options and has no ads. You can chose a nickname that will be used only by the application to keep track of your progress.
