Artificial intelligence is altering the traditional approach towards education and might affect the future on education methods. In simpler terms Artificial intelligence can be defined as the ability of a computer to learn and think, or refers to research whose aim is to intersect artificial intelligence research, learning, and education. Over the past decades researchers have tried to achieve the perfect computers in AI. The objective is to developing a super computer that can mimic a human being. Over the past few decades there has been an increase for the need of a more powerful education systems that is driven by Artificial intelligence. The different scientists had different motivating factors, the development of computers towards the end of the 20th century witnessed an increase in the need to integrate computers into the education system. Artificial intelligence has undergone major and various evolution and transformation over the years, since its early year's researchers have always wanted to attain a system that could actually mimic a how humans think, while striving to preserve the education system integrity.  Towards the end of the last century and the last decade, AI has seen major developments, new systems and approaches have been adopted with the aim of making the system effective and efficient for the learners. Research had to be carried out in two ways, the first involved research on the education application that would in turn help develop knowledge engineering, the second involved the cognitive psychology that scientist believed was key in understanding what a learner knew or misunderstood, this work was developed around from a learner’s perspective.

It is believed that AI in education results in efficiency and that the customized system allows the tutors the time and autonomy to enhance understanding and adaptability of human capabilities that a machine won’t be able to capture. The collaboration of tutors and the best possible features of an AI, the vision is that which sees both working together for the best possible outcome for students. With the constant improvement of AI, it is will might be possible in the future for a computer to read the expression on students face who is struggling with a subject and will then adjust the lesson to respond to the student’s needs. Currently, the plan and vision are to be able to personalize a curriculum for every student’s needs by AI-powered machines.

The idea of a global classroom is one that AI can make possible in education, students who speak a different language, visually impaired or deaf might be able to share a classroom. This idea will make it able for students not able to attend school for various reasons to attend class. Tutors hope that AI will help break silos between schools and traditional grading levels. AI in education has a great potential to offer support to students outside the normal confine of a classroom thanks to studying programs that make it possible for students to do their homework and prepare for tests. Despite the artificial intelligence being sometimes a hard thing to acknowledge, it is really helpful when it comes to buying written assignments at services like Pro-Papers, for example. AI finds the information and sorts it out in a right way.


In future, we could witness a change in the role of the teachers all because of AI in education. The tradition teacher will always have a significant role to play in the education of student but what their roles entail might change due to the new technology. AI should never be seen as a threat to tutors because for the education system to be more productive we will need both the teachers and the AI, both should be a supplement of the other. The AI systems could be a platform where students get supplement information in order to learn more, in future the AI might shift the role of the tutors to that of a facilitator. Tutors will act as a supplement to lessons provided by AI, help students that have been identified to be struggling and also offer human interaction and supervision to students.


The main vision that researchers had in mind when introducing AI in education was to come up with methods and approaches that would stimulate human intelligence by stimulating the cognitive process. Few years down the line that AI in education has seen and undergone major changes, the role of AI has changed from simply stimulating human intelligence to supporting interactions with students. The modeling expertise has seen its focus move from reasoning as the students to reasoning with the student by enabling the learner to enter into a problem, discuss the steps involved, justify its decisions, and diagnose the learners' knowledge. The result of AI in education will make education methods and approaches look so different in the future.
