In hasty conditions of modern life, sometimes it is quite challenging to keep yourself on track. There is tremendous amount of information we have to interact with every day. According to the Forbes article, 90% of the data in the world was generated over the last two years alone. Quite frightening data, isn’t it? There is no doubt that such a dramatic increase is closely associated with the populatiry of the Internet. Today, starting from an alarm in the morning to the news program in the evening, our routine is strongly related to smartphone. I advise you to watch this TEDtalk about smartphone’s and mobile applications’ impact on the decisions we make. Chris Bailey explains how to get the brain focused despite even all this info-flow around us.

How to find a balance between work and rest, useful information and trash, social life and social media? These are questions not easy to answer, especially when you are young. Thus, in this article, I would like to address all the students who are making the greatest effort to keep balance their lives. As a social worker and digital-psychologist, I’ve spent plenty of time working with young adults who were always in a hurry, trying to control and absorb everything. I studied this question a lot and came to realization that if there is no option to abstract from that info-flow, then we should learn how to filter it and use in the right way.

So here’s a list of 8 helpful Apps for your student lives. Keep in mind that you won’t find any studying Apps here. Most of them will be related to time and finance management, cultural education and simply — ergonomics of life.

8 Must Know Apps for Students:

.

1.Costtrack.

From my perspective, money is the most crucial thing for students. Studentship is a first step, or rather first try of independence, also material. Costtrack is a great App, which helps to understand where your money vanishes. Here you can also get a visual expense report of your income and expenses filtered by time, category, and location; protect your data with a PIN; synchronize your expenses and income with your family members, partners, or friends.

.

2. Goodreads.

Everyone reads, everyone writes essays, everyone needs inspiration. Goodreads is a perfect App which combines all these needs. Briefly, it's an online catalog of various books with reviews, descriptions and links for purchase. You can also create lists of books, you’ve already read or want to read and share them with friends. When I search for something new to read, I usually choose from Goodreads-charts. Seems like it is an irreplaceable App for students.

.

3. Reverso.

Once someone said: ” The more languages you know, so many times you are a man”. That's not true. BUT, it is scientifically proved that our brain grows while learning a new language, what’s more — linguistics helps to prevent the Alzheimer syndrome. So, Reverso is a nice assistant for learning. It's easy to use and really smart translator. It provides you with a full list of synonyms, text examples; it even replicates and translates while you speak. Available on 10 languages, even Arabic.

.

4. Acrobat.

No doubts: some of us prefer IOS, the others — Android. However, everyone faces with Docs. Personally I always suffered when needed to place text files on my smartphone: I used to lose, misplace, or even destroy them. I remember, that story ended once I've downloaded Acrobat to put my paper from PaperLeaf there. Why this app is so useful: it doesn’t need the Internet connection, it does not distort files and can systematise materials. In addition, you can use it on other devices.

.

5. TED App.

Who`s not aware of TED? All the most motivational and innovative speeches are always there. Engineers, scientists, chefs, managers, actors and profs — all of them talk and explain. TED App is brilliant. It allows you to choose videos according to its topic, speed and category. It also enables to download talks to watch offline.

.

6.  Grammarly.

This is a service for checking written texts. It helps to correct grammatical and stylistic mistakes. A free version is available, as well as Premium, which expands access to additional features. Grammarly can always give you a hand with expressing your thoughts in the correct manner.

.

7. Elevate.

Great app for everyday use. Elevate helps to train your smartness, flipping new tasks daily. If you dedicate 10 min/day to this program, you will learn to deduct and divide easier, extend your vocabulary, and start to read faster. I like it because it allows you to improve your mental skills, while it’s a sort of a game.

.

8. Timepage by Moleskine.

If you ever used the Moleskine notebook, you agree that it is a perfect planner. This program will help you to schedule your day and allocate your stress. It will also remind you about further appointments. What I admire in it is minimalist design. Highly recommended!

All these apps may indeed make your life a lot easier. Not only they allow you to schedule your time but also reduce stress. Searching for apps that affect your mental health positively is another good habit that might be of great use when you’re in college. Still, while finding such apps is definitely a good option, remember to stay calm and be a great planner yourself.

Good luck!
