Best iPad Apps for Football Euro 2012
With the European Football Tournament set to begin, some app lovers are at their wits end on the best app to have during these two weeks so they can keep completely up to date on all the stories unfolding, team news and obviously those precious highlights which on the iPad with its new Retina display will look super slick.
So if you are looking for some of best news and video highlights to stream straight into your iPad, the following apps should fit the bill.
Live Score Addicts
Price: Free
Firstly, as this a review of football apps for the iPad, exploiting the beautiful interface of the highest selling product ever sold over the space of two years is what users want to do with this gadget.
Using this app, the new Retina display will feed video highlights of the latest matches normally just after midnight GMT+ 7 so as to ensure no media rights are conflicted.
With push notification features, you will get the latest match start times, goals, lineups, red and yellow cards and half and full time results.
However once this tournament is over, this app covers 420 of the most popular leagues, most notably the premiership down to the conference league.
The app gets good reviews from footie fans with the notifications being the most popular feature.
UEFA 2012 by Carlsberg
Price: Free
Carlsberg, one of the sponsors for the Polish Ukraine tournament have put together a pretty useful app for this event – again – delivering you delivering you daily international news, live group tables, player and team prtofiles and a video blog or a “vlog”, which has a ton of pre-match info, player analysis, guides to venues and some of the latest press releases.
No highlights though.
MatchPint
Price: Free
You’ve left it to the last minute and you fancy a pint but you aren’t sure who’s showing the footie?
This is only for sports fans in the UK unfortunately, but this is not just limited to football.
You get all manner of sports from rugby to cycling and particularly useful in London and other big cities this app can be a real life saver especially if it’s coverage of a lower league match which you know is on but just aren’t sure who’s airing it.
ESPN Soccernet
Price: Free
This is probably one of the most comprehensive soccer apps, especially for Euro 2012 as not only do you get all the push notification bells and whistles you get all the latest podcasts and video highlights straight to your iPAd.
The bottom menu lists scores, videos, tables and more buttons plus you can follow ESPN’s twitter feeds that literally deliver you the absolute latest info.
It doesn’t get more complete than this unless you can figure out a way to stream live matches straight in to your sumptuous retina display – ahem!
It also covers every major league on the planet and its recent version makes it accessible to Spanish speakers.
Football Attack
Price: Free
This app is actually a way of playing a little game with this tournament by “you” predicting what you think the result will be for each match and then the app will lock in your score, which you can then update and export to facebook or twitter.
This is not a gambling app, but just a fun way to see what with current results, how the app perceives each team will perform, and you then have the opportunity to change predictions or go with it.
You must have a Facebook account to use this free app so it can add your scores to the Football Attack FB page and rank you accordingly.
