This events app not only provides an easy to view countdown, but also allows you to use a photo, shows the date of the event, and is easy to use.

Easy to Navigate

Countdown to an Event is one of the easiest countdown apps I have tried to navigate. Along the bottom screen you are first presented with an add, order of date option, holiday selection, in-app purchases, settings, and help. When you click on add, you go to a screen that is very intuitive.

Type your title, enter your date and time of the event, then select some options. If you want a personalized photo, chose either from taking a photo then, or from your Camera Roll. If you want to show weeks, months, or years in addition to days, than select that here too. You can even play with the background and font colors!

Additionally, if you are setting this for a birthday or anniversary and are counting down, than you can repeat the event. If you are counting up from the conclusion of an important event such as quitting smoking, or in my case (yet again), soda pop, than you may also set this.

How Do I Get the Full-Screen View?

Countdown to an Event did take me a minute to figure out when it came to the full-screen viewing of events. It isn’t that hard, and I felt quite silly once I figured it out! Click DONE in the top left corner! You then enter the full screen view, and can scroll through your events.

How do you return? Just click on the three lines with the arrow pointing up icon. I guess this is supposed to look like a pull-up list.

If you don’t like how your full-screen view looks, you can click the Camera Roll from here to change your photo, or you can click the move and resize icon to switch things around. For a square image of a landscape image, this is quite useful as apps don’t always select the exact part that we wanted to view in the frame.

Final Thoughts

Countdown to an Event iPhone and iPod touch app is a great countdown utility. I started using countdowns early on with the time tickers in signature lines, so I would still like to see an app truly mirror this, but I appreciate the full-screen option for this app.

It is especially nice for counting up my children’s ages, and counting down to their birthday that is coming up in the near future.
