Introduction

The best iPad apps for learning Spanish

Over the past year or so I’ve come across a fair few educational foreign  language apps, and I can tell you now that some of them really do a great job of delivering the goods while others, shall we say, leave a little to be desired.

Learn Spanish Free definitely seems to be very nicely designed with a ton of high-quality content and a reasonably well-presented interface. If you’re looking to pick up a few phrases here and there, I certainly think that this app will serve you well as a starting point.

Learn Hundreds of Common Spanish Words and Phrases

One thing that struck me as very appealing when I first started using Learn Spanish Free - Phrases & Vocabulary for Travel, Study & Live in Spain is that all of the data is stored within the app so you won’t need an Internet connection to access any of the features.

I bring this up because a lot of similar apps have vast swathes of their content stored online which can make it very inconvenient if you’re planning on using them while you’re actually traveling in a foreign country.

Senoritas y Sangria!

The content in this app is conveniently sorted into various categories which are based on different scenarios, including things such as:

  • Greetings;
  • Romance;
  • Eating;
  • Emergency;
  • Shopping;
  • Hobbies; and
  • Travel, which is also split into further subcategories.

So whether you’re looking to get lucky with the local senoritas or you’re more like me and you’d rather find the best paella in town, you’re sure to find all the words and phrases you need in the respective categories.

Learn Spanish Free - Phrases & Vocabulary for Travel, Study & Live in Spain is definitely the kind of app that you’re going to want to keep handy on your iPhone and iPad if you’re thinking of traveling to Spain.

I really like the cartoony format of the graphics as well, so I reckon this app would make for a suitable learning tool for the whole family. Be sure to get the kids in on the fun too!
