Maleficent Free Fall App Review: a Disney twist on the match three puzzle game 2021

Introduction

It feels like it’s been a long time since I have reviewed a match three puzzle game. The reason for this is because I try to avoid them like the plague. However, when a company like Disney tries to have a stab at a match 3 app, I feel compelled to try it and see what it's all about.

Maleficent Free Fall is based on the live action movie about the evil queen and witch Maleficent, which we all know from the Disney Classic Sleeping Beauty and features Angelina Jolie as the main character. The iPhone match 3 app is designed for both iPad and iPhone. It's under 95 MB and is available for free.

Gameplay

You start the game as young Maleficent and you work your way through all kinds of levels where you have to make the background of your board light up. You do this by matching the gems on the board just like you would in any other match three game.

There are, just like in all the other games you might have played, different power up gems that you can use to clear rows and clear the board a lot quicker.

The game is set up to tell the story of Maleficent and you will gradually get to know the different aspects of the game better. Combining the different power gems will also result in a more powerful move.  

Graphics and Sound

When you boot up the game you can instantly tell there is a power house behind this game. Everything looks fantastic and is worked out into great detail. This app actually made me more excited about the upcoming film which is the sole purpose of the app.

Best iphone and ipad apps

The sound of the app has the same amount of detail to it, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the music is the same music we can expect in the movie.

There are some in app purchases, but you don’t need these to finish or play the game, and solely consist of Magic Points which you will also get by finishing a level.

Conclusion

If you are looking forward to the Maleficent movie, I do recommend you play this app as it will give you something to do until the release of the movie. There is tons of content in the app and the game is fun to play.

It is yet another match three game, which there are already so many of, but this one does offer a ton of quality and a lot of content. The app is made for both iPad and iPhone and is under 95 MB. I'm much more inclined to see this move now since this app was surprisingly enjoyable.
