Vietnamese English Dictionary Box app review: A language dictionary which isn’t very good 2021

Reviews

Introduction

The Vietnamese English Dictionary Box suffers from exactly the same issues as the Thai version. The dictionary app is compatible with both iPad and iPhone and weighs in at just over 110 MB.

The best dictionary and thesaurus apps for iPhone

In the past I have reviewed many different language apps. I seem to be the right person for it, as I can speak five different languages and live in a country where I don’t speak the language (I’m working on it, slowly but steadily).

Developer Xung Le thinks he has found a way to make a lot of money making different dictionary apps for the iPad and iPhone, but it won’t be very successful if you are reading the reviews about this iPhone dictionary app.

Is this a good dictionary app for iPhone and iPad users? Keep reading our Vietnamese English Dictionary Box app review to find out.

What it Offers

First of all, I have to give the developer kudos for one thing. The app is available for translations offline, which makes sense when you look at the size of the app. The app is just over 110 MB and holds all the dictionary information for you on your device.

When you are offline, the app will actually look on different search engines for you and you can get multiple outcomes for any word you are trying to translate. The app works both ways as well, meaning the app is extremely helpful for both Vietnamese speakers and English speakers.

Layout and App Design

The app praises itself on the App Store for having a clean and simple UI (user interface). I have to massively disagree with that as I think the user interface is an absolute mess. I’m not even talking about ad placement or pop-ups; it's just not easy to use.

Best iphone and ipad apps

Fair enough, finding the meaning of a word is fairly simple, but to get the most out of the features the app has to offer isn’t easy at all and having so many different outcomes for a simple word search is more confusing than anything else.

The app also does a picture search, but simply shows you the first picture on Google images, if it’s relevant or not.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Finding the meaning of a word is easy
  • Back and forth from English and Vietnamese

Cons

  • Terrible app design and layout
  • Pictures are simply picked from Google Images

Conclusion

There are many better dictionary apps out there that actually are easy to use and have a clean and simply UI. These apps might not be free like this one, but at least they will be better and easier to use for everyone.

If you’re just looking for a simple word translation app, this might be the one for you, but you need to be patient with it. The app is usable online and is designed for both iPad and iPhone. The app is just over 100 MB.
