ECG Guide app review: a comprehensive ECG reference

Reviews

Introduction

To the layperson and even to some clinicians, the information displayed by electrocardiographs is often esoteric at best, so ECG Guide for iPhone and iPad has been developed to provide you with a comprehensive point of reference that should help you decipher the meaning behind any reading.

The best counselling apps for the iPhone

As I often find myself saying with apps like this, the content in ECG Guide goes way, way over my head; however, I have been pretty fascinated by what’s on offer and I’d be lying if I said I haven’t learned a fair few things along the way!

The overall presentation of this app is slick and very professional in appearance, making it a fantastic reference material in clinical and academic settings, so I would very much recommend taking it for a spin.

What we have here is a highly comprehensive medical reference covering various aspects of ECG  data such as analysis of rate, rhythm, axis, P wave, QRS complex, ST segment, T wave and QT interval, ischemia, tachyarrhythmia, bradyarrythmia, and lots more.

The best first aid apps for iPhone and iPad

There are more than 200 high resolution sample ECGs contained within this app, detailing both common and complex findings, and you’ll also enjoy in-depth descriptions of both common and complex arrhythmias and further ECG findings.

My go-to section in ECG Guide has been the ECG Interpreter, which has been designed to help many of us slightly less informed individuals make differential diagnoses and, as the name would suggest, more easily interpret the data.

Best iphone and ipad apps

I should also point out that all of the content in this app is based on the 2009 AHA/ACCF/HRS recommendations for the standardization and interpretation of ECG data, so you can rest assured you’re getting accurate and fairly up-to-date information.

Final Words

I’m thoroughly impressed by what the developer has achieved ECG Guide for iPhone and iPad, I only wish I had a better understanding of the actual findings. Such is the woe of a humble writer such as myself!

This is a great app that is well worth the money in my opinion.
