Learning math can be tedious. AKW BEDMAS makes learning more fun. Each section has a lesson and guides you through from start to finish. For example, in long multiplication, the app breaks it down for your child. Forty-six x 5 becomes 6 x 5 and then 40 x 5. That way, your child can see and easily remember how to do the steps when it comes to tests. Long division is broken down well too so that your child can learn. Topics include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, number forms, long multiplication, long division, exponents, and BEDMAS.

I like this app, and have been using it with my tutoring students. Now in grade five, they’re starting to get to more complicated math. We’ve been doing long multiplication and long division for a while, and now we’re starting in on BEDMAS. BEDMAS is straight forward enough once you get it, but for some reason, a lot of kids have trouble with following BEDMAS rather than going from left to right. It is a very important mathematical concept though.

AKW BEDMAS utilizes technology to help kids learn. Kids love to play with technology, and when they can practice some work on it first, then they can be rewarded with additional fun game time. Additionally, when learning becomes fun, kids absorb it better and retain it for future tests. I really enjoyed testing this app with my student, as they immediately jumped in and transferred learning from previous apps and paper work to correct answers in this app.

I also liked that the basics are covered before jumping in to BEDMAS. You start with addition, and progress through subtraction, multiplication, and division before learning how to order operations. It isn’t assumed that you know how to do the first steps, which means that you can also use the app to teach students how to do addition. You will need to provide your own manipulatives for beginners, but sometimes physical manipulatives are more useful for beginners.
