Cake Match Charm asks you to match three cakes of the same kind into a row vertically or horizontally. It’s an easy game to play, but becomes more challenging as the levels progress. There are several kinds of donuts, cakes, and pastries to match, and there are two modes to master. There’s arcade and tactical modes, which play slightly differently. Tactical requires you to get the cakes to drop into the set squares to eliminate them, whereas arcade plays in a plain grid.

Navigating the menu is a bit finicky. For example, when I’m playing a game but want to go back to the main menu, I kept hitting resume game instead of quit to menu. Sometimes the map is nice and it’s fun for kids to visualize their progress, but I often find that it takes time to move from level 34 to level 35 and I don’t want to wait for that transition.
