Japanese Massage app review: finding ways to relax

Reviews

Introduction

It seems people's schedules are endlessly filled with things they need to do but how often do they schedule in time to relax? The Japanese Massage app for your iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone provides users with a way to enjoy the benefits of massage. The app is filled with illustrations that take you through the steps of Shiatsu self-massage. This can help with anxiety, worry, and stress, all of which can have very negative effects on your physical and mental well-being.

You Become the Pro

With the Japanese Massage app it's you who will become the professional. The app is filled with illustrations of the steps to use to perform Shiatsu self-massage, which is an ancient Japanese form of massage. It uses many of the same theories as acupuncture. In Shiatsu massage you will be using finger pressure on your energy channels. You can perform these steps while relaxing at home, during a quick break at home, while on vacation, any time you need to find your balance and relax. All of the techniques are clearly defined and well laid-out so there is absolutely no prior knowledge needed.

The app doesn't require any in-app purchases and hasn't been updated in over four years. Its last update included a number of bug fixes. The app has a rather dismal 2.5 out of five stars from users it seems this one isn't quite delivering. Users have commented on the lack of content, which is very evident as soon as you launch it.

Navigating the App

Navigating the Japanese Massage app is very simple and this is in large part due to the fact there is such little content. While the illustrations and Shiatsu massage is clearly described there just isn't a whole lot here. The one feature that is nice to have is the fact that you can listen to relaxing information during the massage. This can certainly help the user relax and unwind. It would also be nice if there was additional information added about the effects of each technique instead of just a couple of quick words.

Overall the offering feels quite basic. It may act as a user-friendly starting point for Shiatsu massage practice but before long users will likely find themselves wanting a whole lot more than this app is capable of providing. There have also been complaints of it crashing and not being very stable.

Final Words

The Japanese Massage app for your iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone can introduce users to the basics of Shiatsu massage but unfortunately that’s about all it offers as it fails to delve any deeper into the technique.
