Tap Don’t Tap app review: mindless fun

Reviews

Introduction

It’s no secret that there are hundreds of games in the App Store designed to provide a little distraction from the daily grind. Some do a better job of this than others, and many just get a little too complicated. Tap Don’t Tap is about as simple as a game gets, and also about as addictive as a game gets as well. You’ll have a hard time walking away from this one. It’s a free app, and it’s compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.

Competition in the game category of the App Store is steep and it’s often difficult finding something that’s worth a second look. Tap Don’t Tap is a simple little game that works and proves the point that a game doesn’t have to be complicated to be a whole lot of fun. After all that is why we play games right?

The best robot games for iPad

This is a game that will test your reflexes and help sharpen your mind in the process. That’s what I really liked about this one – it’s fun and good for you at the same time. As we get older we have to continuously exercise our mind to keep ourselves sharp. Playing games that test our reaction and memory skills are a great way to keep sharp. That’s exactly what Tap Don’t Tap is designed to do. As an added bonus this app won’t take up very much room on your IOS device – you’ll only need 3.4 MB of free space for this one.

How to Play

This is the type of game that will only take you a couple of moments to figure out. When you first open the app there’s a brief introduction screen which runs a simulation of the game in the background – a sort of throwback to video games of the past. There are only four options on this screen: you can tap on the question mark icon if you need instructions on how to play the game, you can choose to toggle sound effects on or off, you can choose the length or type of game you want to play, and you can play the game by tapping on the big blue start button.

The best iPhone apps for memory games

You have a few choices for how you want to play the game, but they’re really just questions of degrees. In reality there are two choices: you can choose a time trial, or a maximum number of taps. Once you’ve decided what type of game you want to play you just tap on that big blue button to get started.

The game play is extremely simple. There are two types of dots: red, and blue. If a blue dot appears on the screen the objective is to tap on the dot, if a red dot appears on the screen you have to tap on the white space anywhere but the dot. The concept is simple, but it can be quite challenging when you’re trying to get as many taps as possible in during a time trial. Every time you improve upon your best score the game will notify you that you’ve achieved your new best score. You also have the option to share your high score with others by email or on Twitter. This is a very addictive little game which works very smoothly – I didn’t run into any glitches at all.
