Christmas Badge Countdown by Michael Hoereth is a handy, fun app that shows you quickly how many days are left until Christmas using an icon badge as well as an in-app timer.

This isn’t just a regular old boring countdown app. Why bother downloading an app just to do something you can do by hand with a calendar? Christmas Badge Countdown is fun, entertaining, and includes music to keep things fresh.

When you launch the app, the default settings will automatically show you a red screen with white text that tells you the countdown to Christmas Day, to the second. If you’d rather it countdown to St. Nicholas, Christmas Eve, or Epiphany instead, just click on the Configuration button.

The badge counts down the number of days left, including sleeps, so it will always show one more day than what the in-app countdown tells you. Make sure you have badge notifications set up in your iOS device’s settings so that the badge will work properly.

In addition to the countdown timer and badge icon, you get an interactive keyboard function that will teach you how to play Christmas carols. You can even track your success in Game Center and win achievements.
There’s a $0.99 in-app purchase to get rid of the ads and unlock all of the Christmas carols, but you don’t have to buy it to get the most out of this app.

Christmas Badge Countdown was updated to Version 2.5 on December 15, 2012. The update added O Come, All Ye Faithful and fixed Game Center issues. The app has a total of 380 ratings with an average customer rating of 4.5 out of five stars, while the current version has 17 ratings with an average of five out of five stars. Feedback comments are all positive.

I adore this app. It’s simple but gives you more than just a countdown timer. You can get a quick look just by glancing at the icon badge or you can go in and get a detailed countdown if you prefer. I love the music option, too. This is a great app.
